January 3 News: According to foreign media personality Jacob Wolf, this year's Esports World Cup held in the Saudi capital Riyadh will include a League of Legends (LOL) event.
At the same time, Jacob Wolf stated that Riot Games will allow each region to send two teams to participate in this competition, and Riot will not decide the participating teams for each region. In an internal email, Riot Games also requested all leagues to suspend all matches in the first week of July to make way for the Esports World Cup. However, specific details are still under discussion.
The Esports World Cup to be held in Riyadh this year is the successor to the 2023 Gamers8 Esports event. It is worth noting that the total prize pool for various projects in the 2023 Gamers8 event is as high as $45 million, with the DOTA2 project alone reaching $15 million.
