Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is not old enough to vote, operate a motor vehicle, open a savings account on his own, or sign a contract. However, he is deemed old enough to open the batting for the Bihar Ranji Trophy team. Vaibhav, at 12 years and 284 days, is without a doubt the youngest cricket player to have played in the Ranji Trophy in the previous forty years. With 25 years on him, Ashutosh Aman was Vaibhav's captain against Mumbai last week. Even though the average age of Mumbai's bowling attack is 28, and his opening partner Sharman Nigrodh is only 18, Vaibhav still took them on with a barrage of boundaries.
