Indian captain Rohit Sharma had a forgetful performance on Thursday as he played his first Twenty20 International for India since the 2022 season. In the series opener against Afghanistan, the seasoned opener was run out for a two-duck ball. India defeated the Rashid Khan-less team handily at Mohali, even though Rohit was lost early. With important contributions from Shubman Gill (23) and Tilak Varma (26) and a match-winning century of 60 off 40 balls from Shivam Dube, India defeated Ibrahim Zadran's team by six wickets. India managed to finish the run chase in 17.3 overs thanks to the unbeaten performances of Dube and Rinku Singh (16). India now leads the visiting team 1-0 as a result of the victory. The player of the match was declared to be all-arounder Dube.
