Just five months before the World Cup in the USA and the West Indies, in the midst of the controversy surrounding Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's return to the T20I format, former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina was quick to highlight the increasing competition for one spot in the final squad for the ICC event in June, making it the "toughest" position in the side. Raina alluded to the competition for the wicketkeeping post, citing up to five likely contenders. While KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, and Rishabh Pant are in the running for the position, Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma have been selected for the role in the three-match match against Afghanistan that starts on Thursday in Mohali.
