In an ordinary One-Day International (ODI) match, each team gets 50 overs to bat and bowl. The team with the most runs wins. The number of fielders who can be used in the outfield varies during each of the three powerplay phases of the inning. During the first ten overs of a powerplay, the fielding team is only allowed to have two fielders beyond the 30-yard inner circle. The captain of the fielding team may only place a maximum of four fielders outside the inner circle during the powerplay two covers overs 11–40. During the final ten overs of the powerplay, a maximum of five fielders may be outside the inner circle.
