After taking a blow to the head during Monday's match against South Australia, Victorian batsman Will Pucovski was replaced during a second XI game. The 25-year-old, who only played one Test match for Australia in January 2021, was hit in the helmet by South Australian seamer David Grant's bouncer that he missed. After consulting field medics, the undefeated right-hander decided to continue playing, but on the following over, 43, he decided to retire hurt. Head of Male Cricket David Hussey said in a statement released by Cricket Victoria that Pucovski's withdrawal from the competition was a collective and "sensible" decision.
