A survey found that 70% of casinos are planning to introduce skill-based games to expand their player base. The report, titled "The State of Skill-Based Gaming in the New Era of Gambling," was released by Synergy Blue, a skill game and platform developer based in California. The survey involved more than 100 casino executives who were asked about their priorities, challenges, and the role they believe skill-based games might play in the future of casino gaming.

The highest expectations for new slot machines in the market were as follows: 55% said they would increase playing time, 45% said they would expand the player base, and 70% said they have already planned or are considering adopting skill-based games. Skill-based games are defined as games with skill components or arcade-style games.

Regarding growth in the next five years, 50% of respondents said Generation X is their target audience, as they are considered economically mature. Notably, only 22% of casinos are focused on millennials.

Regarding the challenges that executives believe skill-based games can address, 67% find them appealing to a new generation of players, 46% believe they increase the casino's appeal by offering diverse products, and 34% emphasize their potential to generate new revenue.

The report states, "To enhance the appeal to the younger generation, many casinos are starting to seek skill-based games. This is attractive to the next generation of players who grew up in the era of video games."

Among casinos that have adopted skill games or games with skill or arcade components, 81% say they provide a different player experience, and 38% say they add unique marketing elements to their properties.

However, among those who have not adopted skill-based games, 34% express concerns about legal or regulatory requirements, 17% lack knowledge about skill-based games, and 30% worry about their appeal to users.

Although 70% of casinos are considering adopting skill-based games, they emphasize the need to see growth in certain areas.

The report also mentions, "Player appeal and player understanding rank at the top, indicating that both casinos and customers are adapting to a new gambling experience with the advent of skill-based games." Player appeal and player understanding scored 51% and 50%, respectively.

Executives were asked about the benefits of skill-based games: 45% said they would increase revenue, and 29% emphasized expanding the player base.

The report suggests that surveyed casinos believe skill-based games "may be the remedy for their biggest pain points."

The report states, "Most casinos are currently working to address revenue and expansion issues, and they also believe that skill-based games can solve these problems."

Currently, casinos allocate a significant amount of building space for slot machines, as they are a major source of revenue. However, players' gambling preferences seem to be changing, with many becoming tired of simply pressing a button to win.

As the report points out, casinos are gradually realizing this. In a competitive industry, they need an advantage to attract both existing and new players. The report emphasizes that gamers from Generation X are accustomed to immersive gaming experiences. Furthermore, future gamers will be more tech-savvy.

This may be because the introduction of skill-based games combines the two, creating an environment that offers a completely new gaming experience while keeping users entertained.
