At the Gabba Brisbane, a youthful West Indies team stunned Australia to win their first Test match against them in Australia since they last triumphed there in Perth in 1997. Young Windies pacer Shamar Joseph bagged seven wickets to dismiss Australia for 207 while defending a 216-run target. With an undefeated 91-run innings, Steve Smith battled alone for Australia, but Joseph continued to take wickets at regular intervals to write West Indies history. After clean bowling No. 11 Josh Hazlewood to tie the two-match series at one, 24-year-old Joseph, who had made his test debut in Adelaide where the West Indies lost by 10 wickets in three days, ran joyfully towards the boundary. Joseph was struck on his and suffered an injury.
