Rahul Singh Gahlaut, Tanmay's opening partner, went for 185 in 105 balls as Hyderabad scored nearly 11 runs per over. In first-class cricket, the pair's 449 for the first wicket ranks fifth-best for an Indian pair. After hitting 20, Tanmay just needs four more maximums to record the most sixes in a single first-class innings. Currently holding the record is Colin Munro of New Zealand, who in 2014–15 scored 23 sixes in his 281 knocks for Auckland against Central Districts.
