Alastair Cook praised Shubman Gill, who scored 104 off 149, saying he is a brilliant talent and ready to succeed Virat Kohli, who followed Sachin Tendulkar’s legacy. “Gill batted superbly. He has immense talent… and there was likely a lot of pressure on him. At the World Cup, all the posters were of Kohli, but he’s the one they want to fill his shoes,” Cook told TNT sports. Cook also said Gill has secured his place in the team and will be seen throughout the series. “What we’ve seen today is just how gifted he is, the shots he plays, and we’re surely going to see him the rest of the series,” Cook concluded.
