According to the New York Post, a man in North Carolina has been buying lottery tickets at the same convenience store for four years and has now won the lottery jackpot three times.
The man, identified as Terry Splawn, reportedly spent $20 on a lottery ticket at his regular convenience store last week and won a prize of $100,000, continuing his streak of good luck. According to statistics from the North Carolina Education Lottery, after deducting federal and state taxes, Splawn received a total of $70,756.
It is reported that this is the third time Splawn has won the lottery jackpot at this convenience store. In April 2017, he bought a lottery ticket and won a prize of $1 million. In March 2019, he bought another ticket at the convenience store and once again won a $1 million jackpot.
After winning for the third time, Splawn said, "It's unbelievable... it's great to win, of course." When asked about the probability of the same person winning two $1 million lottery tickets, Jane Hannig, a statistics professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, said, This situation is rare, but not absolutely impossible. |
