Fabian Allen, the West Indies all-rounder, was mugged at gunpoint near his hotel in Johannesburg. He plays for Paarl Royals in the SA20 league. He lost his phone and bag to the armed robbers. The incident has raised safety issues for the SA20 players.

The Paarl Royals, SA20, and CWI confirmed the incident. A CWI official said Allen is fine and in touch with the head coach and another player. The Paarl Royals and SA20 did not give more details. The police had no information. Allen could not be contacted.

This is the second security incident for the SA20 players. The league is in the play-offs stage. Paarl Royals will play the Eliminator on February 7. The final is on February 10.
