The São Paulo police recently arrested a 20-year-old man accused of embezzling 220,000 Brazilian reais (approximately 37,000 euros) from Neymar's bank account.
According to the São Paulo Secretariat of Public Security, the suspect worked as an administrative assistant at a company, with his specific identity not disclosed. He was a member of a criminal gang engaged in fraud through illegal transactions.
The young man used a simple online banking system called PIX (an instant payment system created by the Central Bank of Brazil) and was apprehended by agents from the regional criminal investigation department. The agents have been investigating several cases of fraud involving various clients, including the Brazilian football star Neymar.
Reportedly, the suspect was arrested in a neighborhood in São Paulo, Brazil, and authorities have indicated they have identified other members involved in the fraud.
Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar has not commented on the matter. |
