On March 7th, in today's NBA regular season, the Lakers lost 120-130 at home to the Kings, falling back to 10th place in the Western Conference. After the game, Ham talked about the team's situation in the second quarter when the Kings went on a run.
Ham said, "I think we started well, capitalized on their mistakes and missed shots to run the fast break, and our defense was good at that time. Our two stars set a very good foundation for us at the start, and then we started making some bad fouls and mistakes, and then the opponents got a lot of transition opportunities. They ran a lot of split screens and handoffs, as well as double screens, which allowed them to penetrate and make some difficult shots inside."
"We have to maintain our hunger for victory, play one possession at a time, and not get discouraged whether we're playing well or not. We've emphasized the mentality of focusing on the next possession before, and I think some calls have made us feel a bit lost, of course, I'm not complaining about that, I allow calls to disturb us, but the team just collapsed directly. We had a good film analysis session this morning, the players' shooting practice was good too, we watched and discussed footage of our previous games against the Kings, and we also planned what we wanted to do in this game in advance. Obviously, you could see that we executed well in the first quarter, but we didn't sustain it, and eventually, we collapsed again."
